Bellbirds are small birds that make a lot of noise for their size.

The Blue Mountains  is well known for bellbirds, and the foothills scarp is where Mos and Doreen always anticipated to hear them when passing through - especially on a certain road bend of Kurrajong Hill.

The birds' call is simply one singular chiming note which seems to ring out through the trees like a very clear sharp bell note.

These little birds are very territorial and can be found in large groups in any particular area they favour. They live in temporate rainforest areas, woodland with shrubby understory, in gullies near rivers or creeks.  Their unique bell-like call is quite loud and resonates through the air wherever they are found.
